Vidic to Leave Man United

Nemanja Vidic has confirmed he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season, but has ruled out a move to another Premier League team.

Nemanja Vidic has confirmed he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season, but has ruled out a move to another Premier League team.

The Serbia international joined the Red Devils in 2006, helping the team to 15 titles while also captaining the side over the past few campaigns, including last term as they lifted the Premier League crown.

However, the 32-year-old is now set to bring the curtain down on his Old Trafford career, but says he takes with him many ‘fantastic’ memories, including their 2008 Champions League final success over rivals Chelsea.

He confirmed the news on United’s official website, saying: “I never could have imagined winning 15 trophies and I will certainly never forget that fantastic night in Moscow, memories that will live with me and the fans forever.

“However, I have decided that I will move on at the end of this season. I want to challenge myself again and try to make the best of myself in the coming years.

“I’m not considering staying in England as the only club I ever wanted to play for here is Manchester United and I was lucky enough to be part of this club for so many years. I’ve got a few options to move on and I will choose the right one for me and for my family.

“I am now going to focus all my efforts on playing for Manchester United and do the best I can for the team until the end of the season. I hope this stops any further speculation about my future.”

Mourinho: Mikel is a genius

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has made it abundantly clear that he holds John Obi Mikel in high regard after labelling the Nigerian player a genius.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has made it abundantly clear that he holds John Obi Mikel in high regard after labelling the Nigerian player a genius.

“Mikel is a genius in his position. It is a miracle if he loses the ball,” Mourinho Chelseafc.com.

Mikel, now a seasoned campaigner at Chelsea has seen his game evolve over the past year, and credits Mourinho with helping him to make the transition. He also shrugged off criticism about his lack of goals during the season.

“Of course I want to score but at the same time not all 11 players can score, you have people there to keep the shape of the team,” said Mikel, who was content with the role that he played in the team.

“If I’m playing with Frank he is always going forward. If both of us go it’s a disaster, likewise with Rami (Ramires), he’s a box-to-box player. I have to make sure I sit, and if we keep a clean sheet and we win then I’m very happy,” he said.

Mikel has made 16 league appearances for Chelsea this season.

Manchester United Reportedly Sign Fellaini From Everton

According to Skysports, Manchester United were able to complete the signing of Marouane Fellaini and Fabio Coentrao, before the transfer window slammed shut.

Fellaini joins his former Everton boss at Old Trafford in a £27.5million deal, after he submitted a transfer request earlier this evening.

Other reports claim that United have also snapped up Fabio Coentrao on a one-year loan from Real Madrid, although this has not been confirmed yet. David Moyes turned to the Portuguese left-back, after he failed to land Leighton Baines.

Manchester United manager David Moyes said: “I have worked with Marouane for five years and I’m delighted he has decided to join Manchester United. He is a player with great ability and strength and I think he will make a real difference to our squad.”

Marouane Fellaini said: “I am thrilled to sign for Manchester United. I have known the manager for many years now and I have a lot of respect for his way of working.

When I was given the opportunity to work with him again, I jumped at the chance. I had a fantastic time at Everton and I’d like to thank all the fans and staff there for everything they have done for me. But being a Manchester United player is something that every player dreams of and I believe that I can make a real contribution to the team’s efforts to win trophies in the future.”
